Small Livestock
Chickens at work
17th February
After a week when it rained pretty much every day at least today was fairly dry even if it was overcast. So with just a few weeks away from starting turning the vegetable plot over ready for the Spring planting we have got the chickens out on it doing their bit.
Just a few hours of scratching up the grass etc for worms etc it has already
made my job a whole lot easier when I get the rotavator our next
Month.
The fencing is just lightweight plastic held up with bamboo canes
and can be moved easily from plot to plot.
Our Bantam Cock can be seen
patrolling up and down outside trying to chance his luck with the hens although
they are double his size and in no mood for nonsense from him.
Now that
the weather has turned a bit warmer we are back up to around 4 eggs a day on
average from our 6 hens.
